Update May 2007: Meet Rhona
and Hannes - our crazy friends who are joining us on our travels
now.
Your Captain, Eric Toyer, (Australian) has spent many years at
sea as a commercial fisherman, operating trawlers that he designed
and built. He has always had a desire to design, build and operate
his own yacht and his son, who is the fourth generation in a line
of boat builders, worked alongside Eric to build ‘Amarula’. Eric
is a Naval Architect and Shipwright by trade and his greatest passion
is the ocean and the natural beauty it presents. Eric has always
had an interest in sailing and has been sailing regularly since
he & Lynne bought their first catamaran together in 1994.

First Officer is Lynne Sands (English), Eric’s wife. Lynne and
Eric met in Dar es Salaam in 1993 when she went there to teach at
the International School of Tanganyika. As well as being a teacher,
Lynne is a trained Counsellor and her greatest passion is travel.
She is a qualified Coxswain and has been sailing with Eric since
they bought their first Dart 20 catamaran together in 1994. Since
then they have owned a 10metre cat, an Elite 11 cat and now their
own unique 18metre cat. Lynne managed the administrative side of
the catamaran project.

We have realised our dream and enjoyed sharing our 'home' with
various guests in the waters around Dar es Salaam and occasionally
further afield over the past 4 years. We are now going sailing furtehr
afield starting with the Tanzanian and Mozambique coast then across
to Madagascar and back to Dar by November time, then who knows.......
Why not crew with us to really experience what it means to be a
live-aboard, blue-water cruiser?
