SV “Amarula” is an exclusive 18.4 metre luxury catamaran designed,
built and operated by her owner, Captain Eric Toyer and his wife,
Lynne. She is beautifully fitted out with the comfort of the
long distance traveller in mind and offers many luxuries, whilst
providing the opportunity to travel to exciting places that relatively
few people have the opportunity to visit.
She has been designed specifically for blue water cruising and
has all the comforts of home. She is self-contained with a large
fuel capacity, generous battery supply, solar and wind power, air-conditioning,
water-maker, dive-compressor and a large sail wardrobe.
For the past few years she has been in charter in Tanzania, East
Africa during which time Eric has also been involved in various
other projects such as providing new shipping on Lake Victoria.
But now we are sailing....
In 2007 we sailed down the Tanzanian coast with friends, crossed
the border into northern Mozambique, where we explored the Quirimbas
archipelago, then we crossed to Mayotte and finally Madagascar before
returning to Dar es Salaam towards the end of the year. We had a
wonderful trip and loved Madagascar enough to return in 2008, which
we did and were joined by other friends there. In 2009 we finally
decided to leave Dar es Salaam, which had been our base since we
left Australia in 2002 and now we are in South Africa.
Who knows where after that...... the world is our oyster......
